Founded in 2003, The Gift of Love has been serving our communities for over 22 years. Our organization was established to address the growing need for assistance for those facing social or economic challenges.
Our mission is to: "Empower people by meeting their social and economic needs by helping them with everyday challenges." Starting in 2003, God gave Sheila Hoffman of Blessings Hair Salon in Bellwood, IL, a vision to make the dreams of 2 special families come true by getting them what their hearts desired for Christmas. With the tremendous help and hearts of her faithful clients, they have been doing just that ever since. This was the seed that led to the formation of The Gift of Love.
The Christmas Blessing Program is where we help financially-challenged families and individuals make some of their Christmas wishes come true! They let us know what they would like and, depending upon our funds and/or donations, we purchase the gifts for them. Each gift is then personally wrapped and written with the person's name on it. In the many years this program has existed, we have blessed over 20000 individuals nationwide! Over the years, we blessed
families in Illinois, Georgia, Tennessee, and Arkansas. The Gift of Love has been blessing underserved families in a variety of ways.
Our Easter Blessing Program blesses little girls ages 12 and under from the Chicagoland area with FREE hair styles! It doesn't stop there, as this is a full day of pampering for the girls to truly feel like little ladies while building their self-esteem and social skills. Manicures and
pedicures are given, as well as free breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We've blessed over 100 girls with this program.
Our Back-to-School Program is for families who can't afford to purchase school supplies for their students. Thousands of supplies have been purchased or donated for this event. We have also been able to bless some college-bound
students with laptop computers as well! We also adopted Lincoln Elementary School in Bellwood, IL (500+ students) for one year where a number of the families received our Christmas Blessing. We also donated school supplies and uniforms to the school. We took some
of the children to the store where we purchased items for them for everyday wear.
Our "Unconditional Love" program is our social services program. We've gone to the streets of Chicago and served over 500 homeless people with free meals, blankets, and coats. We were able to do this by partnering with One Warm Coat and other organizations. Additionally, we have provided elderly people who live in senior citizens centers with coats, hats, and gloves. We also provide social services assistance by helping the underserved with everyday challenges.
